University of Portsmouth gives ambassador tour of creative degrees

THE Indonesian ambassador was given a tour of the creative degrees offered by the University of Portsmouth.

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries hosted Rizal Sukma, his family and a number of other dignitaries including the education and culture attache during the visit last month.

Professor Trevor Keeble, dean of the faculty, met the group on arrival before they were given an overview to BA (Hons) Film Production by senior lecturer Johnny Lochland along with an introduction to BA (Hons) Fashion and Textile Design with senior lecturer Lara Torres.

Following that they were given a demonstration of the motion capture studio with interim head of school Kevin Curtis and principal technician Alex Counsell. 

During their visit, they also learnt about the School of Architecture.

The day finished with a meeting to discuss the university's global engagement strategy.

A spokesman for the University of Portsmouth said: '˜The ambassador, his wife and the education and culture attache were impressed with the use of cutting-edge technology across all of our programmes.

'˜They were also impressed with the quality of students' work, innovation evident across all disciplines, the community-focused approach to project design, and most of all the quality of our teaching.

'˜The students they met demonstrated the way in which their courses are preparing them for employment.'
