University of Portsmouth sees its best ever performance in national rankings

The university has risen to 51st in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide which is its highest ever ranking achieved.

As well as being two positions higher in the national table than the previous year the university has also been ranked eighth out of 19 universities in the south east.

The guide also ranks Portsmouth as the top university in the region for graduate prospects in gaining professional employment.

The latest ranking is part of an upward trajectory for the university which was recently placed in the top 25 universities in the UK in the latest guide produced by the Guardian.

The university is particularly proud of its record in ensuring graduates go on to develop a career in their chosen profession.  

A survey from the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education shows that the University of Portsmouth was ranked first out of 17 universities in the south east and in the top 10 per cent nationally.

Additionally the survey highlighted that the average starting salary for a Portsmouth graduate had increased from £23,250 in 2016 to 23,830 last year.

Students attending the university are generally happy with their education provision with a national survey indicating 88 per cent of those questioned satisfied with their learning experience compared to 83 per cent nationally.
