University of Portsmouth's top team recognised at vice-chancellor’s Awards for Excellence

STAFF and students at the city’s university have been recognised for their achievements as part of the annual vice-chancellor’s Awards for Excellence.

The University of Portsmouth Women's Football Club has been recognised as the best performing sports team.

One team recognised was the University of Portsmouth Women’s Football Club who were described as having ‘consistently been our top performing sports team’.

Other notable recipients were software engineering student, Mohammad Alatoum, for his business plan to address climate change, and Dr Nic Bonne, who produced a range of resources to engage visually impaired young people in science.

Vice-chancellor, professor Graham Galbraith, said: ‘This year’s awards recognise impressive and inspirational individuals and teams who tackle real-world problems, engage the public, and improve people’s lives in our city and across the globe.’

Due to coronavirus restrictions, nominees were not able to collect their awards in person.
