Whizzkids take on a day of maths challenges

PORTSMOUTH High School recently held a celebration of maths across the city.

Twelve primary and junior schools came along for a maths challenge day – which coincided with Albert Einstein’s 138th birthday and National Pi Day.

The girls from years five and six were faced with some stretching mathematics challenges covering numeracy and shape activities.

Mays Rashid from Milton Primary School said: ‘The day was really fun. Some questions were challenging and others were a bit easier.’

Chloe Mackley from Oakwood School said: ‘I really enjoyed the day; we’ve had lots of fun.’

Emily Blake from Uplands Primary School added: ‘It was great to learn better ways of enjoying maths.’
