The vision of the school is to: Stay safe

Treat others how you wish to be treated Try your best and be proud

Through nurture, we aim to develop responsible, motivated and caring children.

All staff, children, parents and governors share the responsibility to value, respect, care for, praise and listen to each other and we seek to uphold these values at all times.

We are proud to be part of a federation with the Junior School, which shares the same site. Both schools are judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted and we are often called a ‘hidden gem’ in Waterlooville by our parents.

The infant school Ofsted report notes that ‘the majority of pupils at the school make more progress than expected and engagement with parents is ‘very strong’. It is acknowledged that staff know pupils well and provide the relevant support for each individual.

Ofsted praised Springwood for its quality of teaching and learning.

There is a strong culture of safeguarding in the school. The school is proactive in its approach and concerns are followed up robustly.

The view of parents and carers is that pupils are safe and well-cared for and the pupils agree they feel safe in school.

Executive Headteacher Jo Livingstone said: ‘I’m so proud of the team at Springwood! Our school continues to grow, everyone is committed to making a difference to our community and working with our families to ensure every child is an individual that achieves their full potential.’

In July 2019 we achieved:

75% of our children leaving Early Years with a Good Level of Development (above national average)84% of our Year One children above the national average in PhonicsAbove national average for our Year Two pupils working at Greater Depth.

Our well-resourced and attractive learning environment provides our children with a range of fun activities which they access with confidence and independence, both inside and outside the classroom.

At Springwood, we look for ways to develop further so that we are reaching for the stars and helping all of our children to achieve their full potential and be fully prepared for the future.

Aspiration for everybody is also at the heart of Springwood’s curriculum. We understand the essential importance of equality and this is underpinned by our vision and values. We are committed to enabling all our children to make good progress.

Our curriculum is designed to build on children’s starting points through a carefully- planned and personalised sequence of learning. We want our children to explain their understanding by using models, pictures and by telling a story.

Online admissions have now opened for children to apply for Year R starting school in September 2020. Please click here
