Q: I would like a fuchsia to grow up my pergola. Is there a climbing fuchsia? PL, Farlington.

A: Yes, but it will have to be tied in. See if you can find Lady Boothby. I saw it growing at Jobs Nursery at Durley, just the other side of Bishop’s Waltham. It grows rapidly and should cover the upright in about two years.

Q: I can’t grow anemones. Any tips? BL, Cosham.

A: Plant five corms around the edge of a 5in diameter pot in any compost. Once the roots fill the pot plant them as a group. Do not break the root ball and you’ll be successful.

Q: I hope to move to a home with a large garden. At the moment I have some lovely plants and want to split them, put them in pots and when to do this? FL, Eastney.

A: Now! Dig up the clumps and, with two forks back to back, thrust them into the clump pushing the handles together so you can split the clumps properly.
