Alzheimer's Society is looking for volunteers

THE Alzheimer's Society is looking for volunteers in Portsmouth and Gosport to help out with a monthly activity group for veterans with dementia.

The Kitbags and Berets group aims to keep people with the condition physically and mentally active and provide a social atmosphere.

Lucie Debenham, from the Alzheimer’s Society, said: ‘Activity groups can make a huge difference to people’s sense of wellbeing, helping people keep fit, have fun and socialise. But we need more volunteers to deliver this group.

The groups meet on the second Thursday of every month, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm at the Frank Sorrell Centre in Southsea.

They also meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month, between 10.30am and 12.30pm at the Royal Naval Association in Gosport.
