Other activities on offer include a chance to watch life-saving skills being demonstrated, and an opportunity to speak to staff about their experiences.

There is also a chance to visit the outpatient department and the site’s minor injury and ailment unit, which treats 45,000 people in the city every year.

Hospital director Penny Daniels is urging as many people to join the day.

She said: ‘Everyone loves to see behind the scenes and our centre, which treats more than 94,500 cases a year, can certainly offer some fascinating facts and stories.’

The open event is taking place from 10am to 4pm and is free to come along to.

Visitors will also have a chance to take home health-inspired goody bags to help them keep in tip-top condition.
