Big bash for children's charity

AN AFTERNOON of free family fun helped children's charity Ickle Pickles raise more than £3,000.

The children’s charity returned to Knowle village green after being ‘rained out’ last year, hosting a barbecue and Pimm’s tent, inflatables and a dog show.

Ambassador and fundraiser Lorraine Blackburn said: ‘It was a really good day. The showers throughout the day caused some issues but people still turned up in their hundreds to support us.

‘Events like the summer party are really important for us. All the money raised supports the local neonatal units, but it’s also about getting name of the charity out there and letting people know what we do.’

Ickle Pickles, which was founded in 2009, will be holding its Christmas Fair at Waterlooville Community Centre on November 12 from 11am to 3pm.

The charity’s aim is to help fund equipment for neonatal units, such as incubators and ventilators.
