Biggest rise in dissatisfaction with NHS is recorded

The British Social Attitudes Survey has been tracking satisfaction since 1983.

The 2015 poll of nearly 2,200 people showed satisfaction with the NHS at 60 per cent – down from a high of 70 per cent in 2010.

Some 23 per cent said they were actively dissatisfied – a rise of eight percentage points on the year before and the biggest single jump in a year.

Waiting times were cited as the biggest reason for dissatisfaction – mentioned by over half of people.

Not enough staff was another woe.

But Havant MP Alan Mak did not agree with the results of the survey.

He told The News: ‘Talking to local residents across Havant their satisfaction with the NHS is high.

‘Our surgeries are friendly and responsive, waiting times are down, and the government has met the NHS’ own target for funding.

‘I’m working with Emsworth Surgery to find new and bigger premises, and have continued visiting local pharmacies and opticians who are doing well.’

Patients reported highest satisfaction rates for GP services and lowest for social care.
