Club donates £2,199 to QA Hospital
A NIGHTCLUB has raised more than £2,000 for Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Liquid, on Stanhope Road in Portsmouth, donated the cash which will buy specialist lighting for jaundiced babies.
Dave Joyce, general manager of the club, gave the £2,199 grant to Portsmouth Hospitals Charity to get a phototherapy unit.
He said: ‘The donation is from our company’s Echo Trust charity to give something back to our community.
‘We hold regular collections at the club and our customers are always generous.
‘We nominated the hospital because of the amazing work it does.’
The jaundiced yellowing of the skin is caused by a build up of bilirubin in the blood and body’s tissues.
‘Phototherapy is the most common treatment where the baby lies in a crib and is exposed to a type of fluorescent light that is absorbed by their skin.
Matron Katrina Adams said: ‘We’re very grateful for this donation. We do not have our own one so have to borrow it from the neonatal unit.’
