Coronavirus in Portsmouth: One new Covid-19 death reported at QA Hospital as total rises to 917
The latest figures from the NHS report that one new death linked to Covid-19 has been confirmed at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Updated daily figures released by NHS England on Tuesday, July 20 showed that there had been one death on April 23 and none from April 24 to May 3, one each on May 4, July 12, July 14 and July 16.
All numbers registered in the last few days are subject to change as post mortem results are processed.
It means the total number of deaths linked to coronavirus at the hospital is 917 since the pandemic started.
The daily figures include deaths where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 in the preceding 28 days.
The first death at QA Hospital was recorded on March 14 last year. There was nearly a two-month gap recorded between deaths from June 5 to the end of August.
Confirmed cases in the Portsmouth City Council area have risen to more than 17,000 since the start of the pandemic.
While daily death figures are recorded by hospital trusts – and do not include those that occur in care homes – cases are recorded by council area.
There have been 484 deaths confirmed so far by University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in Winchester, has recorded 439 deaths.
Southern NHS Trust has seen 58, and Solent NHS Trust 15.

April 27-May 3 no deaths
May 4 – one death
May 5-July 11 – no deaths
July 12 – one death
July 14 – one death
July 16 – one death
