It comes amid increased talk of a second lockdown, and reports that the Prime Minister is considering a number of stricter measures, in addition to the newly imposed 10pm curfew on pubs and restaurants in England.

Yesterday Professor Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer, and Sir Patrick Vallance warned the country is at a ‘critical point’ in the coronavirus pandemic.

They warned that the UK could have 50,000 cases a day by mid-October if the current trajectory continues.

Eight more coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in Portsmouth in the last 24 hours.
