Ellie Walls, who serves at HMS Collingwood, spent 26.2 hours (26 hours and 12 minutes) bouncing on a space hopper as part of the 2.6 Challenge – a national fundraising initiative organised by London Marathon Events to help fill the anticipated £4bn charity funding void with events having to be cancelled due to coronavirus.

After completing the challenge, Ellie said: ‘It's been absolutely amazing to do. It started out as a small, slightly daft idea but it has been embraced and has been a huge success.

‘I had great weather, which made the day easier, as well as brilliant support from my neighbour who kept bringing me food. The worst bit was around 4am. It’s the time I hate on a night shift and this was no different, but it does make a difference when you know you're doing it for someone else.’

Ellie had initially hoped to raise £500 but has now smashed this target.

‘I've raised over twice my target and I am humbled by the generosity of friends and strangers alike,’ she said. ‘The hard part is not being able to thank the anonymous donors directly, but I hope they know how grateful I am.’ .
