But over the weekend another case from within the same year group was confirmed.

It has left headteacher Richard Carlyle being forced to take immediate action in line with the government guidelines.

‘With two positive cases in a bubble I have decided that the whole Year 7 cohort bubble will be self-isolating from Friday November 27 to Friday December 14,’ he wrote in a letter to parents, posted on its website.

It means the 14th day of isolation will be on Friday December 11, with pupils safe to return the following Monday.

A move to ‘online learning’ will take place for students within the isolating period, Mr Carlyle said.
