CQC praises Denmead care home for supportive staff

White Wings House, in Denmead, was praised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for its supportive staff and plans in place to keep residents safe.

In the five criteria looked at by the CQC which asks if the house is safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive, it was given Good for all of them.

The report said: ‘Staff developed caring and positive relationships with people and were sensitive to their individual choices and treated them with dignity and respect.

‘People were encouraged and supported to maintain relationships that were important to them.’

The key findings from the inspection included:

n People felt the service was safe and staff were aware of their responsibilities to safeguard people.

n Staff sought verbal consent from people before providing care and were aware of legislation designed to protect people’s rights.

n Care and support plans were personalised and focused on individual needs and preferences.

At the time of the inspection, in May, White Wings House on Ashling Park Road, had 13 residents.
