Mark Gettinby, the owner of Home Instead Senior Care, said: ‘We can see the effects of Alzheimer’s and dementia on a daily basis.

‘We understand that many people don’t always get the support they need.’

He added: ‘This book provides help to recognise the signs.

‘It also gives real life scenarios providing a guide about how to manage the various different situations which can arise.

‘We hope that by donating these books it will provide this much-needed help and support to the local area.’

Staff from Home Instead paid a visit to the library in High Street to drop off the copies of Confidence to Care.

This is a handbook for those caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

The book, which has been published by Home Instead, offers readers a combination of personal stories and practical advice.

This will help them provide the best and most effective dementia care possible.

Its primary focus is on the effective prevention and management of certain memory and behaviour symptoms.

These include refusal, aggression, delusions and wandering, which family carers often need help with.
