Do you even lift? Fareham gym lovers take on mental health

NMA Performance is Wickham Road, Fareham, is holding the competition for The Mental Health Foundation on Sunday, July 9.

As well as gym lovers from the area signing up to compete, there will also be a handful of national level weightlifters, who will be showcasing their talent to the audience.

Event organiser Robert Guest said: ‘The inspiration for the event came from my girlfriend, who had an eating disorder; as a club we are also very aware of mental health issues, and wanted to do our part to help out.

‘We are really excited for the event, and to have the national weightlifters come along; they might show us up a bit, but it will be an amazing spectacle regardless.’

Doors open for the event at 9am, with competitors starting their lifts soon after.
