When does GDV happen?

Usually within the first two hours of feeding, especially if it was a large meal/drink and eaten/drunk too quickly and then followed by exercise.

Symptoms of GDV?

If your dog shows any of these symptoms, seek advice or take them to The Vet as soon as possible: Anxious, restless, pacing, drooling, swollen/painful abdomen, whining/panting, stands with legs apart and head hanging, pale or dark red gums, shallow breathing.

Top Tips

Do not exercise/walk your dog for at least two hours after a meal and don’t feed your dog for 30 minutes after exercise/walks. Two smaller feeds are better than one big meal.Try not to let your dog eat too quickly. Ensure fresh water is available all day to encourage your dog not to drink too much in one go.
