Gosport doctor giving talks on changing healthcare

Dr Donal Collins, clinical lead for the Better Local Care programme in Portsmouth, will be talking about how the schemes have improved the system in Gosport.

He will be at the Kia Oval in London today at a Transforming Primary Care for London event and in June he will be at the Excel London for Europe’s largest integrated health and social care event – MCP Exemplars: Learning and scaling up the best models.

All Gosport GP practices are involved in the town’s Better Local Care and with many GP practices nationwide facing similar issues such as demand on services and GP shortages, there is interest in local success stories which offer best practice for other areas.

Dr Collins said: ‘General practice cannot continue in its present form.

‘There is still much work to be done in Gosport. These are still relatively early days, but it is obviously flattering that others are keen to find out what we have done here.’
