GPs remind people to order prescription before festive period

PEOPLE in need of repeat prescriptions are being reminded to order them in good time as Christmas approaching.

GPs are advising patients to ensure they don’t go short of vital medicines over the festive season.

Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, with bank holidays on Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27. There will be another bank holiday on Monday, January 2.

Many GP practices and pharmacies will have limited opening hours so people are being encouraged to start ordering now.

Dr David Chilvers, GP and chair of the governing body of Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group said: ‘Please check your medicine supplies and make sure you have enough to last through the holidays.

‘Unfortunately, there will still be those who run out of medicine or leave orders until the last minute, which puts immense pressure on staff that are already working incredibly hard to care for people.’
