Havant Tesco launches new baby clothing that could help to parents save tots' lives

THIS imaginative new babygrow is helping to teach parents how to give CPR.

The custom-made garment was created by St John Ambulance in collaboration with retail giant Tesco.

And it is being launched for parents to get their hands on at the superstore’s Havant store, in Solent Road, on Thursday.

It comes after a staggering 74 per cent of parents revealed that the first aid emergency they feared most was finding their baby not breathing.

Concerningly, the survey of 2,000 people showed that only 25 per cent of mums and dads knew what to do if they found their tot in this situation.

So to tackle the issue, St John Ambulance came up with a fun way to educate parents in the UK.

The new clothes feature tips on how to give a baby first aid if they stop breathing,

Elizabeth Harper, St John Ambulance’s regional director London and south, said: ‘Working with Tesco gives us a great opportunity to help spread the incredibly important lesson of baby CPR to millions of parents.

‘We hope the worst will never happen but the babygrow, and our online video, shows parents what to do in a very clear and simple way.’

The babygrow will be available between 9.45am and 4.30pm at Tesco Havant Extra, in Havant. It can be picked up for free, for three to six-month-olds, with a suggested donation going to the charity.
