Health advice as snow hits

GPs are advising people to stay well and warm as snow hits the area.

Dr Elizabeth Fellows, the urgent care GP lead for Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport and south eastern Hampshire clinical commissioning groups, said if people have to venture outside, they should wrap up warm.

‘Although we may not get the worst of the weather, it is important to know what you can do,’ she said.

‘If you must go outside, wrap up warm in lots of thin layers to conserve heat and wear shoes with extra grip. If you have one, keep a charged mobile phone with you in case of an emergency.

‘If you have an elderly relative or neighbour, a quick phone call or visit can make the world of difference.’
