New service in Portsmouth area will support adults with ADHD

A NEW service for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder will be extended across Portsmouth and the wider area.

Mental health provider Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has been selected to expand its existing autistic spectrum disorder service and deliver the new ADHD project.

The Hampshire Autism and ADHD Service will provide the trust’s nationally-recognised model of diagnosis and support for adults with the conditions.

The service will direct people after their diagnosis towards the best treatments and strategies to help them manage and cope with their condition.

They will work alongside Autism Hampshire to provide a range of support.

Referrals to the service will be made by health and social care professionals.

Raja Mukherjee, lead clinician for the service, said: ‘This is a really positive development to the services the trust already provides and we are excited to launch it. These services mean we will be able to make a significant difference to people’s lives.’

The service is available in the areas served by the Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport and south eastern Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Groups. Visit sabp.nhs.uk/asd-adhd.
