Plastic alert on Mars sweets

Sweet maker Mars is recalling some funsize chocolate bars after plastic was found in one of its products.

The alert in Britain, which also includes some Celebrations products, came after the German dpa news agency, citing Mars in Germany, said the voluntary recall affects products produced early this year in the Netherlands.

Roel Govers, spokesman for Mars in the Netherlands, said the recall affects 55 countries but did not provide further details.

Today the UK Food Standards Agency Mars said: ‘Chocolate UK has taken the precautionary step of recalling products produced in the Netherlands that possibly contain pieces of plastic. Other products are being recalled in Europe which have not been distributed via the Mars UK distribution route.

The FSA said the follow products manufactured in the Netherlands and distributed in the UK were being recalled in Britain:-
