Pompey Pals work with QA Hospital in new project

QUEEN Alexandra Hospital is working alongside the Pompey Pals as part of a new project.

The department of medicine for older people, rehabilitation and stroke will be welcoming members of the Pompey Pals into the Cosham hospital once a month.

The scheme is for patients in the department and will encourage them to remember and recall their own past experiences.

A spokeswoman for Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs QA Hospital, said: ‘We are pleased to be working in partnership with The Pompey Pals for this project.

‘Last week they held their first session and patients were able to listen to stories, touch and feel artefacts and recall their own stories.

‘Our patients really enjoyed this session and we will be holding monthly sessions in our day room Memory Lane.’

Pompey Pals, based at Ford Widley, is an organisation which aims to commemorate all those men and women from the Portsmouth area who served in any capacity during the First World War.
