Portsmouth care trust to relocate to council's civic office headquarters

The city’s primary care trust will relocate from its base at St James’ Hospital to Portsmouth’s civic offices over the weekend of February 13 and 14.

It will reopen for business from its new home on Monday, February 15.

The move follows a decision by NHS Property Services, which owns the hospital site, that the main building is surplus to requirements.

Dr Tim Wilkinson, who chairs the CCG’s governing board, said: ‘For years in the recent history of the NHS, St James’ has been the base for the main commissioner of health services in Portsmouth.

‘It has been our home since the CCG was formed, and it was previously the headquarters of the primary care trust before us. So this is very much the end of the era.

‘But the civic offices has many advantages for us – not least because of the close working relationship we already enjoy with the local authority, and our two organisations have so many combined priorities and a shared vision for future health and social care provision in Portsmouth.’
