‘All colleagues from across PHU should be very pleased as I heavily rely on teams and individuals to identify our veteran and military patients so that we can offer bespoke support.’

The English Veterans Awards aims to recognise veterans who have switched from military to civilian life, going above and beyond in their field, as well as organisations that support and recruit from the armed forces community.

Sean Molino BCA (British Citizen Award), founder of the awards, said: ‘The aim of our Veterans Awards is to inspire future service leavers that they can achieve great things when they do decide to leave the armed forces, it’s all about the positives that are happening within our veteran community.

‘All our shortlisted finalists should be extremely proud of their achievements; positivity breeds positivity. We are here to spread the positive messages and journeys from within our veteran community, serving reservists and those companies that support us.’

As part of its dedicated armed forces services, the trust runs a nurse led veterans-only mesothelioma clinic, the Portsmouth Enablement Centre provides specialist prosthetic care to veterans and since January last year, a case support worker from the Defence Medical Welfare Service charity has worked on site for four days a week seeing veteran inpatients, assessing their needs and referring them where necessary.

The awards ceremony for The English Veterans Awards will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at the Village Hotel in Solihull.
