Portsmouth rehabilitation service rated Good by CQC

The Care Quality Commission made an unannounced visit to the Portsmouth Rehabilitation and Re-ablement Team, based at the Turner Centre, in St James’ Hospital, Milton.

Run by Portsmouth City Council and Solent NHS Trust, the service offers short-term support to people who may need care, equipment or rehabilitation.

Most of the care is provided in people’s own homes.

The inspector visited earlier this year and rated it good for being safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive.

The report said: ‘People who used the service said they felt safe.

‘Staff had received safeguarding training and could describe the forms of abuse people might be vulnerable to and how to report it appropriately.

‘People and their relatives told us staff were kind and caring and they looked forward to their visits.

‘Records showed, and people told us, they set their own rehabilitation goals.

‘Care plans focused on supporting people to regain and maximise their independence. The service protected people’s personal information and respected their confidentiality.’
