QA Hospital governors to hear proposals on vascular future

NHS England will be speaking at a meeting of the governors at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust which runs Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham.

The meeting on June 9 will discuss plans which would see all major vascular operations moved from QA Hospital to University Hospital Southampton.

The latest proposals were presented to the Portsmouth health overview and scrutiny panel in April.

They come five years after The News launched one of its biggest health campaigns urging services to remain in the city.

NHS England’s Wessex medical director Dr Liz Mearns will present the proposals, together with feedback from public events held last month, at the full council of governors meeting.

She said: ‘I am delighted to have this opportunity to talk to the governors about a plan developed by vascular surgeons from our local hospitals which we believe will create a world-class service in southern Hampshire.’

The meeting, which is open to the public, is at 10.30am in the lecture theatre at the Education Centre at QA Hospital.
