QA paediatric team raise £30,000 for piece of equipment

MORE than £30,000 was raised by a hospital's paediatric department for a piece of machinery.

The team at Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, raised £30,937 for a blood gas analyser which is used to diagnose and treat patients. It was raised through various fundraisers including bike rides, walks, cake sales and a 12-hour dance-a-thon.

Sister Tracey Thomas will be starting up a committee to raise more funds for other equipment. She said: ‘I am blown away by the support we have received and I am proud that through our hard work, we have managed to purchase a blood gas analyser.’
