Roadshow in Portsmouth aims to empower families

AN EVENT will take place aimed at empowering families, children and young people with special needs and disabilities.

Portsmouth Local Offer Live is a free event organised by Portsmouth Parent Voice, a charity which supports parents and carers of children and young people up to the age of 25.

Miltoncross Academy, in Milton Road, will be the venue from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, March 19.

There will be free craft activities, drama and dance workshops, and pampering for mums and dads.

Live music will be provided by local band Lucky 13.

The event will include workshops on mindfulness.

Barbara McDougall, co-ordinator for Portsmouth Parent Voice, said: ‘The whole family is welcome as there are many free activities.’

Organisations taking part include Aspex Gallery/Evolve Project, Pompey in the Community, Omniarts,

Solent NHS Autism Co-ordinator and Portsmouth Learning Disability Integrated Service.
