Service named as centre of excellence

A SERVICE for patients with tumours in their hormonal and nervous systems has been named a centre of excellence.

Made up of clinicians from across the south, including Queen Alexandra Hospital, the Wessex Neuroendocrine Tumours Group was given the title by the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society.

It was founded in 2005 by Neil Pierce. He said: ‘We are the first team to be accredited as a multi-site centre of excellence.

‘This demonstrates the unparalleled success of the collaboration between the clinical teams on the three sites working together.’
