Gosport War Memorial Hospital, Fareham Community Hospital and Elmleigh in Havant are among the sites that now have a smoking ban enforced.

Chief medical officer Dr Karl Marlowe said: ‘Many people are in hospital because of smoking-related illness, and if they continue to smoke it’s likely they’ll take longer to recover.

Portsmouth NHS Hospitals Trust made Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth smoke-free in January.
