South Health scandal prompts CQC review into how how the NHS learns from deaths
THE Care Quality Commission (CQC) is to review how the NHS learns from deaths in light of the Southern Health scandal.
The watchdog for England said it will look at how NHS trusts identify, report, investigate and learn from the deaths of people using their services, with a particular focus on those with a learning disability or mental health problem.
The review has been ordered by Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, following problems at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust – which last week had a warning notice from the CQC calling for it to improve.
