Belle Johnson, who works at Stewarts Abbey Garden Centre in Titchfield, lost her aunt to cancer earlier this year.

In recognition of the great care her relative received from Macmillan Cancer Support, the 33-year-old has agreed to have her hair removed as part of the charity's Brave the Shave campaign.

So far Belle has raised more than £500 from family, friends and customers ahead of the shave on September 25.

She said: '˜I'm nervous but pleased to be able to join the staff at our Christchurch centre as our target is to raise over a £2,000 for the charity through sponsorship.

'˜Pledges are coming in thick and fast.'

Belle's colleagues were eager to help out using the centre's vast range of shears and clippers. But the haircut will be done by a professional hairdresser.

Martin Stewart, managing director, said he was impressed by the staff's response to Belle's challenge.

'˜I am both proud and inspired by the goodwill shown,' he added.
