Wear yellow today and raise awareness of serious condition

THE Spinnaker Tower will shine yellow today to raise awareness of a serious condition.

The colour will symbolise the plight of people with cystic fibrosis and their families and the passionate fight to find a cure to the condition, which affects the lungs and digestive system.

Sue Kruk, secretary of the local branch of the CF Trust, said: ‘Supporters from the Portsmouth Branch of the charity wore yellow at their meeting for the third year of this awareness raising day.

‘The UK CF Registry has recently indicated there are 261 patients in Hampshire, and 20 on the Isle of Wight. They, and their families, fight cystic fibrosis every single day of their lives, whilst carrying on with all the normal activities of school, work and play.’

The branch has been running for more than 50 years.

And the University of Portsmouth has long been home to research into condition.

Mrs Kruk encouraged people to wear something yellow today to raise awareness.
