West Sussex hospital to get heart equipment after gift

HEART patients will benefit from cardiac monitoring more quickly, thanks to the fundraising efforts of a residents’ association.

The Mill Farm Residents’ Association from Pagham raised a £6,500 for the cardiac investigations team at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

The donation came after they were inspired to support the department by the care given to the husband of one of the group’s members.

The money will buy three mobile ECG heart monitors.

Information from the device can be analysed by the cardiac team to assess whether the patient is suffering from irregularities of heart rhythm.

Consultant cardiologist Dr Colin Reid said: ‘These monitors are fantastic and we would like to use this magnificent donation towards buying more.

‘They are extremely useful for patients and will be put to use immediately. It really is a tremendous effort to raise so much money and we are most grateful.’

The fundraising included a summer fun day.
