Patients are asked to attend the three-hour sessions after treatment and then have the chance to follow up with sessions of exercise.

They give patients the opportunity to discuss their experience as well as getting information about heart disease, risk factors, lifestyle changes and medication.

Susan King, cardiac rehabilitation nurse, said: ‘The courses are working very well for Portsmouth patients.

‘It allows us to help patients make healthy choices, thereby living a healthier lifestyle and reducing the risk of future heart problems.’
