Have your say

Two weeks today it will be the 50th anniversary of England winning the World Cup in 1966.

I am sure many of you have memories of that fantastic summer’s day in the middle of the swinging Sixties. I know I have.

I even had a ticket for the game, but more on
that peculiar story on
the day.

One memory I have is not of the actual match but the singing of the National Anthem afterwards.

Wembley had a new roof for the occasion and it is a wonder it was not lifted with the rousing rendition.

Queen Elizabeth, who presented the trophy and medals, must have felt the hairs on the back of her neck rise. Mine certainly did.
