THIS WEEK IN 1975: For her, success is something special

Have your say

A bulging envelope dropped onto my desk the other day and inside were a sheaf of pictures from Remember When reader Maureen Read (née Logan).

Maureen, of Elizabeth Gardens, Southsea, was born in Hertford Street, Landport, and went to Church Street School and Portsea School (John Pounds), Portsea.

In 1954 she married Benny Read from Portsea and they ran betting shops at The Hard, Portsea, and Highland Road, Southsea, in the 1960s.

The photographs cover periods from both their lives.

Many readers might be able to recognise themselves or their relatives and friends.

I’ll publish some more tomorrow.
