Being just a stone’s throw from the main gate to the naval barracks, the Queen’s cinema was a useful meeting point for sailors and their girlfriends.

It was another large building that survived the war when all around it was destroyed by the Portsmouth blitz.

The Queen’s, in Queen Street, Portsea, finally closed its doors in the 1960s and was demolished in the early 1970s.
