In 1984 the buxom film star Diana Dors was at Leigh Park to open a new bingo hall.

It was converted from the original bowling alley where, legend has it, the Beatles played after appearing at Portsmouth Guildhall.

The ‘blonde bombshell’ as she was called, appears to be using a walking stick. This event could have been one of her last public appearances as she died on May 4 of that year aged 52.
