Bus aficionado John Kirby’s latest trip down memory lane takes us to Hayling Island from Hilsea on a scorching summer’s day in June 1984.

We end up at the funfair there via a winding rural route through Northney on which buses no longer run.

John, of Stubbington Avenue, North End, Portsmouth, might have captured the vehicles for posterity, but it is the background to his pictures which often provide the talking points – buildings which have changed or have vanished.
