We have a watery theme today with the latest pictures from Helen Mabel Smith’s archive.

She was the former headmistress of Paulsgrove East Infant School and lived from 1906 to 1990.

Miss Smith taught in Portsmouth for 40 years and had previously been headmistress at Albert Road Junior School in Cosham.

Two of her photographs highlight the tranquil nature of the moat at Hilsea, a third does the same at Baffins Pond, Baffins.

We finish with a shot of the old Royal Yacht Britannia berthed at Whale Island.
