HMS Jumna is pictured moored in Portsmouth Harbour in 1880.

The ship’s company are manning the rigging as the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert comes alongside, just below the Jumna’s stern.

Aboard the yacht was the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, who was returning from an official visit.

Jumna was one of five rig-and-screw troopships commissioned jointly by the Admiralty and the Indian government.

The other four were Serapis, Crocodile, Euphrates and Malabar, and all five were familiar sights in Portsmouth Harbour.
