This is Daniel Street, Portsea, the home of Jeremiah and Charles Chubb the founders of the famous lock-making company.

Jeremiah was said to be the inventor of the revolutionary Detector Lock which should have made his fortune.

But he could not stand the pressures of life and drifted into poverty, leaving the field open to his brother Charles to continue with the company which soon became world-famous.
