To someone like me, who had to negotiate this roundabout twice daily for several decades, perhaps the most interesting aspect of this picture is the immaculately-planted, and large, roundabout. The enormous queues are still a regular occurence.
For those who can’t place it, this is the merry-go-round of a junction outside the old News Centre where Northern Parade and London Road meet.
It was taken from the nearby footbridge on the day Portsbridge roundabout opened over Portcreek when obviously much confusion and long delays were caused.
The grassy island with its trees and flower beds has long been replaced by a much smaller and unsightly concrete one.
