A little fuzzy perhaps but here we see Portsdown Hill Road where it meets London Road. The George pub would be on the right behind the soldiers. 'Picture: Barry Cox Collection

Have your say

Remember Hoopers, the old tool shop in Kingston Road, Portsmouth?

It used to be said that if you couldn’t find the implement you needed there, it probably didn’t exist.

Graham Alland sent me this picture of Hoopers staff in the early 1960s. He’s the tall, young one near the wall on the left and was one of two van drivers who delivered tools and other equipment.

Graham says: ‘I even went aboard the royal yacht with engineering tools, but had to take my shoes off.

‘And I delivered to foreign warships that were in the dockyard.

‘Mr Stewart and Trevor Juniper can be seen in the picture. They ran the company with their father.’

Graham wonders if readers can put names to others in the photograph.
