The Queen Elizabeth class battleship HMS Barham passes the Round Tower, Old Portsmouth, in the 1930s.

On November 25, 1941, she was torpedoed by U-boat U-331 and 973 men went down with her.

The sinking was filmed by Pathe cameraman John Turner from HMS Valiant.

The film was kept secret until the end of hostilities because of the damage it might do to wartime morale.
